Success By 6 puts money into SDG neighbourhoods
Area neighbourhoods will soon benefit from funding through Success By 6’s Neighbourhood Grant Program! Five ‘neighbourhoods’ were successful with their proposals to Success By 6. The events include a family summer camping trip ($1000.00), healthy fruit and vegetable boxes at low-cost ($603.00), a cultural celebration ($500.00), playgroup outings ($490.00), and a family picnic ($300.00) totaling $2, 893 for this first round of Neighbourhood Grant Program funding.
The Neighbourhood Grant Program is a special funding program, with a goal to encourage individuals, groups, and grassroots organizations to develop projects that will make our community a great place for a child to grow up, while at the same time promoting citizen commitment and participation. Neighbourhood Grants may vary from $100.00 to $1000.00. The Neighbourhood Grant Program can help build a community that cares for kids.
“Our goal with the Neighbourhood Grant Program, is to see neighbourhood involvement in the lives of children 0-6 years and their families throughout the area of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry” says Richard Abell Chair of the Success By 6 Managing Council.
Success by 6, sponsored by the United Way of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, and funded in part by the Ontario Trillium Foundation combines the force of 18 partners from the health, education, social services and volunteer sectors in a community-wide initiative designed to ensure that children get off to a good start in life. The healthy growth and development of young children prenatal to age six offers them the best opportunity to be ready to learn when they enter school.
Closing dates for proposals to the Neighbourhood Grant Program are March 31 and September 30 of each year.
Application forms for the Neighbourhood Grant Program and information about Success By 6 are available from the Administrative Coordinator. Please contact us about your idea before applying. We can offer support in the application process.
