Program grants shall support results in one or more of the following priority areas:
- Programs and Services
Target: 0-1 years of age
- Program and Services
Target: 1 - 6 years of age
- Special Needs
- Geographical Area in Need of Services
- Educational Awareness
How Do You Know If Your Project Is Eligible?
Before you start, you must contact the Success By 6 Administrative Coordinator to determine if your project is eligible. The Administrative Coordinator will discuss the feasibility of your idea and determine if your project fits with the vision of Success By 6 and the local priorities that have been chosen.
These Success By 6 recommended priorities should be considered by those applying for funding:
- Enhance parent attachment to their child for stimulation.
- Parent mentoring programs starting at pre-conception and continuing onwards.
- " Vision Driven not problem Driven " - Home Visiting Program to all new mothers.
- Priority - Services for the Infant Child.
- Programs and services to assist young mothers within first months of childbirth.
- Promote early learning programs that are affordable and accessible. Provide quality early care and education for all children and their families.
- Provide programs, activities and services for pre-natal to 6 years involving children, parents and caregivers.
- Support programs for teen parents.
- Support to parents of children with disabilities.
- Reach out to those who need our services in a coordinated effort to increase accessibility.· Programs and services for parents with mental health problems - children are at risk.
- Program and services for 3-6 year olds with priority on at-risk families and/or those with financial difficulties.
- Concentration on early education programs in areas where EDI scores were low.
- Enhance current services and programs within the geographic areas with low Early Development Instrument (EDI) scores therefore increasing accessibility.
- Reach-out to at-risk families that are socially isolated, in rural/underserviced areas and those areas with low EDI scores.
- Support to families living in isolated rural areas.
- Educational programs for healthy relationships in the high schools.
- Educational programs re: parenting before teens become parents (preconception).
- Encourage partnership with the educational system including graduating students. Reaching out to the schools with information delivered by knowledgeable community agency workers.
- Public info for health care providers, teachers, parents, caregivers and the general public re: the importance of early years - early child development.
- Support communication and partnership between caregivers/daycare workers/educators and parents.· Fun Programs for children.
- Program delivery in PLAIN LANGUAGE.
Who Can Apply?
Proposals will be accepted from any agency/ organization or grassroot group in Cornwall and the surrounding area of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry. We welcome collaborative proposals and strongly recommend partnering with others who could contribute to the impact of the program.
How does Success By 6 determine who will receive a program grant?
The Success By 6 Resource Allocation Action Group reviews program applications and forwards recommendations for funding to the Managing Council for final approval. Proposals will be considered for funding based on the following criteria:
- Is the proposal consistent with the Success By 6 Vision?
- Does the project draw upon community resources and demonstrate resourcefulness?
- Are the community needs clearly defined?
- Does the project meet an identified Success By 6 priority?
- Does the project respond to gaps in services and resources?
- Does the project build on or enhance an existing program?
- Does the lead organization have the resources and ability to develop and/or deliver early child development and/or parenting programs?
- Does the lead organization have a sound track record in partnering with local agencies?
- Is there a sound management structure in place to manage the funds?
- Does the lead organization have the ability to manage and sustain any growth that may result from the project?
- Are the activities consistent with the principles for early child development and parenting programs?
- Is the project flexible and responsive to the needs of families in the community?
- Does the project address barriers to access?
- Is the project culturally sensitive?
- Will the proposed activities be effective in reaching families?
- Will the proposed activities assist disadvantaged or low-income families?
- Have parents been involved in the development and planning of the project?· Does the proposal outline how the results will be tracked?
- Is it clear what is being evaluated and why?
- Does the evaluation plan give outputs (# of clients being served) and outcomes (effectiveness/impact of program on clients)
- Is the budget realistic for the activities outlined in the proposal?
- Have other resources and funders confirmed their contribution to the project?
- Are there plans in place to continue the project?
